Lost in Time

We drove up the gravel path that seemed to wind and stretch on for miles under a canopy of trees and past worn wooden fences.  As we neared the house, the wail of trombones and clarinets began to sneak through the windows.  Beyond the path's final bend the view opened upon a vast field strung with colored lanterns.  The evening passed swiftly, carried by the rise and fall of music and the buzz of conversation, and before long the colored lanterns were the only glowing source of light.
